Mobile, Alabama (November 9, 2009) - This holiday season, The Tea Room invites the community to savor the holiday spirit in extraordinary new ways. The popular restaurant will celebrate the holidays with a variety of festive, original events, beginning with an Old English Candlelight Dinner on Saturday, December 5, 2009. Guests will indulge in the robust flavors of traditional English fare prepared by the restaurant’s new head chef, Erik Natvik. Although Classically-trained, Natvik promises a menu of delightful surprises for this memorable evening. In addition, guests will be treated to the soothing Celtic melodies of the renowned Silverwood Duo. The Tea Room will host this one-of-a-kind evening with two seatings, at 5pm and 8pm. This authentic dining experience is sure to please dyed-in-the-wool fans of world-class cuisine, as well as those eager to embrace the holiday spirit. Then, in celebration of Christmas on the Hill Sunday, December 6, The Tea Room once again opens its doors for the annual tradition of afternoon tea and Christmas carols. Minstrels adorned in Dickens-era costumes will delight guests with favorite carols as they stroll around the restaurant and gardens from 12-5pm. This truly original event promises to kindle the holiday spirit in guests of all ages. As part of the celebration, The Tea Room’s popular Afternoon Tea will be served at 1pm and 3pm. Reservations are highly recommended for all seatings. Beginning November 27, The Tea Room is also delighted to announce that dinner will be served on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings, from 5-9pm. Chef Natvik will be expanding the restaurant’s menu to include rich, hearty dinner fare, such as duck, lamb and rabbit. Traditional English staples such as steak and mushroom pie will also have their place on the menu, alongside fresh European breads and pastries. “Guests will have many choices at dinner,” Chef Natvik explained. “While there won’t be any pub-style British food, I will be introducing new, unexpected flavors to the area. Guaranteed to satisfy,” he furthered. The Tea Room’s expanded culinary repertoire and dinner service make it an ideal setting for holiday parties and receptions of any size.
